Newish

So with the new year nearly upon us, we are hit with a massive announcement from Nikon. The D300 & the D3. I must admit I am very excited for the new development from my favorite camera company. While I won't be purchasing any of these cameras any time soon, I am happy to see a new development from Nikon. Most of all I am happy to see a full frame sensor from Nikon. Its about time. And with a price tag around 5k, while out of my range, is not outrageous.

I also find it funny that the Nikon
announcement has some what dwarfed Canons announcement of the EOS-1Ds Mark III. I visit forums of both communities and have seen all the talk of the new Ds from Nikon, but it seems quite on the Canon front. Is it me or does 21mp just seem like overkill? It seems if your in need of that much resolution, you would just go MF digital.

It will be interesting to see the new developments from Nikon next year. Its going to be a good year...

Last week

So the Cary Brothers show was brilliant. Loved it. Have to say though that William Fitzsimmons was by far the best part of the show. His words and music move you in ways not thought possible. I will post pictures soon.

Also, little update. I was in a car accedent day before yesterday. Guy ran a red light and blind sided us. Luckly it was only the font of the car. But it was a hit and run, for he was no where to be found after the initial impact. Fu$%er. I am fine. My girl bruised all the cartliage in her ribs and left hand and receieved brusing from the seat belt. All in all the car took most of the damage. It could have been a shite sight worse. So now comes the fun process of getting a new car for her. Yay.

So my dog got skunked again last night. I swear to god, I live in the NYC of the skunk world. There fucking every where. So I got to give him a skunk bath at 1am. Eff me.

Going to see Cary Brothers tomorrow night, along with William Fitsimmons, and Stars of Track and Field. Should be a good show, but I just read that no pro digital cameras are allowed. Is the D200 a pro? Idk, but I am thinking they probably are not going to let me in with it. I am going to bring it any way and hope they do. We will see.

Today

I feel like painting today. Well not just today, but lately. I got the paints out of the garage last night. Paints I received years ago, a Christmas gift from a close friend, that I just never touched. I have never been much of a painter, but the desire to attempt is strong in this one. My skill lies in painting with light.
I am going to moving out of my house soon, going to get an apartment with my girl. She is the painter here, not me. But I hope that we can get a place with 3 bedrooms, I want a studio for the both of us. It would be nice to have a place set aside just for my photography and her painting. Waking up next to her, then heading to the work room will be nice.

Ahso

It has been a while since I posted anything at all. Such is life. An update? Busy is all I can say. The reason I stepped out? I was feeling stale and wanted to find a style of my own. Here in this infinite world of the Internet, any one can be a photographer. There is a deluge of the Myspace photographers. And don't take what I am saying as slight, not all of them are bad. I am just tired of seeing the same old thing on every page I look at. Sights such as Flickr, Zooomr, and any other number of the others you can mention, provide numerous pages of inspiration. Alas this in itself is the issue. There are so many pictures out there that it can be a herculean task to find your own style. This is why we must, at certain points, step away and examine the art we make. I did just this, and it has been a good thing. I think I am finding my own way.

Just grow,
Wes
